Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Wikiando and its apps, such as Metrobús CDMX (the “Service”), collect, what we use it for, who we share it with and what you can do about it. By using the Service you accept what is described here. We do not sell your personal information.

What information we collect
Your account (optional). If you create an account: your email address, username and password, or your sign-in with Google or Apple. If you complete your profile: photo, bio, links to your social networks, date of birth and gender. You can use almost all of the Service without an account.
The reports you send. The text you write, your voice notes and their transcription, up to two photos, the line, station and time of the report, and your location if you share it. Also the votes you give other reports (“still happening” or “resolved”).
Your location. Only with your permission and only while you use the app, never in the background. We use it to show your position on the map and the stations near you. At some moments of use (for example, when you open the map or search for a route) we send it to our servers to understand how people move around the city; our statistics tools only receive an approximate area, not the exact point.
Usage and device. The screens you open and the actions you take in the app, your device model, operating system, app version, language and app identifiers. We record some usage sessions to improve the app, with all the text you type and all images hidden. When the app crashes, we record the error and the state of the device.
Searches. What you type when searching for a place is sent to address-search providers to find results.
Purchases. If you subscribe to Pro, the purchase is processed by the App Store or Google Play; we receive the status of your subscription, never your card details.
Advertising. If you do not have Pro, the app shows ads from Google AdMob, which may use your device’s advertising identifier. On iPhone, ads are only personalised if you allow it when the app asks you.
What we use it for
- To provide the Service: the map, routes, arrivals and the status of the lines;
- To publish your reports and add them to the status of each line and hour;
- To check automatically that reports are about transport and contain no sexual, violent or offensive content;
- To produce aggregated mobility statistics that identify no one;
- To fix errors and improve the app;
- To show ads to those without Pro and to manage subscriptions;
- To answer you when you write to us and to prevent abuse.
What others can see
Reports are public: anyone can see their text, photos, line, station and time, together with your username and photo. If you send a report anonymously, it is published under a pseudonym (“pasajero-…”) instead of your name, but we keep it linked to your account. Your profile (username, photo, bio and social networks) is also public. You can delete your reports at any time from “My reports”.
Who we share it with
We work with providers that process information on our behalf and only for these purposes:
- Google Firebase: sign-in, usage statistics and crash reports;
- PostHog: usage statistics, session recordings and errors;
- RevenueCat, the App Store and Google Play: subscriptions;
- Google AdMob: ads;
- OpenAI: transcription of voice notes and automatic review of reports;
- Mapbox: maps;
- Place-search providers (such as Foursquare and INEGI);
- Hosting and storage services (such as Amazon Web Services).
Some of these providers are outside Mexico. We do not sell your information. We would only hand it to an authority if the law requires us to.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and measure how the site is used. You can delete or block them in your browser; some features, such as signing in, may stop working.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account or while we need it for the Service. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, your reports and your votes; the location points you sent are kept without any link to you. Aggregated statistics identify no one and may be kept.
Your rights
You can access your information, correct it, ask us to delete it or object to its use (ARCO rights), and withdraw your consent. You can delete your account from the app or the website, turn off access to your location, camera, photos and microphone in your device settings, and refuse tracking for advertising. For any other request, write to us at the address below.
Security
We value your trust in giving us your personal information, so we use commercially acceptable means to protect it. No method of transmission over the Internet or of electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
The Service shows links to other sites, such as the social-media posts cited in reports. We do not operate those sites: we recommend you review their privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we find out that a child under 13 has given it to us, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and know that your child has given us personal information, write to us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will publish the new version on this page with its date; changes take effect when published.
